Say no to pasta! How Kate's lost a stone to look stunning

When Kate Winslet stepped out for the New York premiere of her latest film The Reader on 3 December, she knew her body would be scrutinised.

Kate, 33, oozed glamour in a £1,200 Herve Leger dress which showed that, while she’s lost around a stone, she’s kept her sexy curves.

The bandage dress helped to cinch in her waist and flatten her tummy, but she’s obviously worked hard to tone her body.

Kate’s big incentive to get in shape was having to film nude scenes for The Reader, in which she plays an older woman who seduces a 15-year-old boy.

She didn’t have a body double and insisted that she wanted the scenes to look realistic.

‘The body on screen is all me,’ Kate revealed. ‘I’m doing alright. I’ve had two kids [Mia, 8, and Joe, 5]. I don’t look in the mirror and go: “I look fantastic!”  I don’t believe in perfection, but I do believe in saying: “This is who I am.”’

The secret of her fabulous shape? A ban on carbs and alcohol.

‘I don’t eat pasta or bread, I don’t drink and I limit processed foods,’ Kate’s said.

‘‘I don’t go to the gym. I go through phases where I think: “I really should go.” But I work out on the living room carpet. It’s great – no one’s looking at you, no one’s telling you what to do.

‘I have a mat and weights and I do a stomach and bum thing.’

Even so, Kate’s been quick to point out her flaws. ‘I have a crumble baby belly, my boobs are the worse for wear after two kids,’ she’s admitted.

‘I’m not a supermodel. I just do whatever I can to stay healthy.’
