The tips and tricks model mum Adriana Lima and her friends use to get runway-ready
Watching models Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio flaunt their fabulous figures down the runway at last night’s Victoria’s Secret show is enough to give any woman body envy – until we remembered that both Adriana and Alessandra are mums.
In fact, a lot of the Victoria’s Secret Angels are mums: Adriana and Alessandra have TWO children each, as do their model mates Isabeli Fontana and Doutzen Kroes. And American beauty Lily Aldridge and the UK’s own Jourdan Dunn have one child.

In 2012, Adriana Lima took just three weeks off to recover from the birth of her youngest daughter Sienna, before spending five weeks on an intense workout plan to bounce herself back to runway-ready shape.
After getting the all-clear from her doctor, Adriana‘s trainer Michael Olajide Jr says she was training ‘four to six hours a day, seven days a week.’
Starting at 9am, Adriana would spend 20 to 30 minutes on an exercise bike, followed by another half-hour of core work and a quick-reflex shadow-boxing routine.
Next, Adriana practised punching combinations wearing real boxing gloves before completing glute and leg-sculpting exercises and finishing off with a jump-rope routine and stretches.
‘I do lots of jumping rope for about a month and a half before the show,’ says Adriana.
‘I have been doing boxing for over 10 years – it’s a passion of mine. Since you’re not wearing much and you’re on television, you have to pay attention to different areas!’
That may sound knackering, but apparently Adriana repeated the entire routine again in the evening.
Michael says: ‘She’d head home to be with the family and the babies and then, pow! She’d come back that night from 5 to 8pm.’
As well as working out, Adriana makes sure to keep herself hydrated, admitting to drinking a gallon of water day in the run up to the show.
Two days before the show Adriana will limit herself to normal recommended amounts, so an average of 8 glasses over the course of the day.
12 hours before the show she will stop drinking all liquids completely to help define her muscles and frame.
