Fans did NOT take the news well...

It was an emotional end to a dramatic series for the Geordie Shore gang, as the season finale saw Holly Hagan walk away from the house after more than five years on the show.

The extra special double-bill saw original cast member, Holly make the big the decision to leave Aiya Napa arm-in-arm with on/off boyfriend, Kyle Christie as the pair caught the next flight back to the Toon.

Despite the news coming as a bit of a shock to her fellow house mates, the 24-year old FINALLY opened up about the real reason she decided to leave the MTV hit show on Tuesday (20th December), explaining it ‘wasn’t a split second decision’.

In an emotional Instgram message, the star said: ‘Just want to say a huge thank you to those involved in my Geordie Shore journey for the past 6 years!’

‘Considering I thought I was going to get p***ed for 6 weeks and thought I’d be going back to the call centre this has changed my life and I’ll forever be grateful.’

Talking about the reason she called it a day, Holly went on: ‘I’d been considering leaving for a very long time and it wasn’t a split second decision as it may look on TV.

‘I’ve not had a single regret since leaving but that’s not to say I won’t miss every single one of that f***ed up family. My brothers and sisters forever.

‘I’m so proud and honoured to have been a part of MTVs highest rating show and I have memories that no1 can replace.

‘I hope everyone continues to support Geordie Shore. Thank you everyone for being a part of this incredible journey (sic).’

But after watching the star grow up since she was 18-years-old, Geordie Shore fans couldn’t handle Holly’s departure, taking to Twitter as the scenes aired one viewer wrote: ‘Bloody hell! Holly and Kyle. That was emosh,’ while another upset fan wrote: ‘Holly…. No. one the originals is actually leaving. I’m absolutely gutted. #geordieshore.’

But it wasn’t just the viewers who were gutted about the Geordie stars decision to leave, and her fellow cast mates also took to social media to reminisce on their time together and wish Holly all the best.

Along with a cute selfie, Marnie Simpson posted: ‘You’ll always be ma sassy sista always make sure to come back and visit us in the house as I’ll miss you to much (sic).’

While fellow original, Gaz Beadle posted an uncharacteristically adorable collage of the pair, including a pic of her final scene, to remind Holly of her rocky start to the show, writing: “@hollygshore where do I start… tonight is your last episode of Geordieshore and I just want to say I am proud to have been there with you for your whole journey..

“I watched you walk in the house not knowing who you really where and abit lost with life haha you wore 7 pairs of eye lashes and ate bowls of melted cheese haha!! We have been threw things some friends will never and have some of the most amazing memories ever!!

“But best of all its been amazing to watch you become who you are today after the hard times and abuse you got when gshore first started.. you found your feet and kept going and I am proud of you and the woman you are today.. I hope we will always be friends love ya Gaz xxx”

With Holly saying her last goodbyes, the house is looking a bit low on originals as best mate, Charlotte Crosby also announced her shock exit earlier this year.

The house will certainly be a lot quieter without this pair…
