Uh-oh! Was there a reason for Lewis Hamilton's weird wedding mention?

If there was a Brit Award for the most uncomfortable moment on last night’s ceremony, then it’d have to go to Ellie Goulding and Lewis Hamilton. (Madonna wins the award for most memorable).

Presenting the award for Best International Female Solo Artist together, the overall awkwardness between the pair hinted there was much more than meets the eye.

And after doing a little bit of digging, it seems there might be.

While Lewis joked about Ellie’s choice of attire for the evening, asking if ‘she’s going to a wedding or something?’ – quick-witted Ellie then quipped ‘Yes, ours’ in reply.

Following four seconds of silence on Lewis’ behalf, a blunt ‘no’ then sealed the deal that yep, this was basically the most cringe moment of the ceremony so far.

But was this all a sly dig at Nicole Scherzinger?

Who was left ‘heartbroken and devastated’ just weeks ago following the end of her seven-year on/off relationship with Lewis due to his alleged refusal to settle down and marry?

A certain Nicole.

So, was a wedding reference by Lewis maybe a bit of an inappropriate one?

Add to this the fact that Ellie and Nicole are old friends – they have previously been spotted out partying together and posing for selfies back in 2013.

On top of this is Lewis’ seeming obsession with Ellie. In 2012 fans accused him of naming his dog ‘Roscoe’ after the hit song Ellie famously covered during her rise to fame in 2010.

And in 2014 Lewis went on a slight fangirl spree and was spotted reTweeting performances of Ellie on The Today Show in America.

Hmm! Bit of a super fan?

Sadly Ellie didn’t seem so Starry Eyed by Lewis at last night’s awards.
