Sacha Baron Cohen's wife is a pro at comedy
Isla Fisher has revealed that she left Australia to go to clown school in France.
The Great Gatsby star admits that training at the institution after starring in a soap was a scary but worthwhile experience.
It’s humbling to start at zero every so often,’ says Isla, 37.
I moved to Paris after Home And Away to go to clown school whilst my friends headed to LA to try and “make it”.
I didn’t speak French and I felt so out of my depth.
I was terrified for most of the year I was there, but eventually I broke through – my French became fluent and I enjoyed performing in a way that I hadn’t in a long time.’
It sounds like Isla has always been as funny as her husband Sacha Baron Cohen, who’s known for his outrageous comedy characters such as Ali G, Borat and Brüno.
I know how to tap into my inner idiot,’ the actress tells The Observer Magazine.
We moved a lot [when I was younger] because of my dad’s job [with the World Bank], so I started a new school every year, and in order to break the ice and make friends I had to do stupid things to make people laugh.’
