After much speculation, the cast of Friends came together this weekend - and made our inner TV geek VERY happy by posing for a picture with The Big Bang Theory's stars!

Our inner TV geek is freaking out right now, because the cast of Friends got together with the cast of The Big Bang Theory and some clever person took a photo of it. Could we BE any more excited?

The amazing snap was shared earlier today on Instagram by ‘Norman Cook’. No, not the Norman Cook that’s actually Fatboy Slim and Zoe Ball’s husband – that’s just Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco‘s Instagram handle.

Sharing the shot with her 1.9m followers, Kaley wrote: ‘Ummmm NIGHT MADE. Can’t breathe #friends meets #bbt @bigbangtheory_cbs I died and went to heaven.’

It showed Friends legends David Schwimmer, Matt Le Blanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow happily smiling alongside Kaley and her fellow Big Bang Theory stars, Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Simon Helberg.

The stars of the two immensely popular sitcoms were attending a dinner in honour of director James Burrows – who worked on both shows – as part of an upcoming NBC special recognising his TV achievements.

But sadly one key member of the Friends crew was missing in the shape of Chandler Bing, AKA Matthew Perry.

Unfortunately for Friends fans (but luckily for London theatre goers), he’s currently in the UK rehearsing for his self-penned play, The End Of Longing, which is due to open in the capital next month.

His publicist made it clear that Matthew would not be attending filming of the NBC special last week when Friends fans went into meltdown at the thought of all six stars of the show being in the same room.

His representative Lisa Kateler wrote in an email last week: ‘Matthew will not be attending as he is in London in rehearsals for his play, The End of Longing, which begins previews on Feb. 2 at the playhouse Theatre. NBC executives were aware of this prior to their TCA announcement yesterday.

She added: ‘Matthew may tape something for the tribute. In other words, this is not the reunion people have been hoping for.’

And so our wait for a full Friends cast reunion goes on. But, until that day, today’s picture of five of Ross, Rachel, Joey, Monica and Phoebe hanging out with Leonard, Shelton, Howard and Penny will keep us happy.
