Could it BE any funnier? As Friends marks its 20th anniversary, we’ve pulled together the shows top 10 one-liners

The one where we look back at and remember how great Friends was…

Sorry to make you feel old but next week marks the 20th anniversary of Friends – our all-time favourite TV comedy. WOOPAH!

The US sitcom, which first aired on September 22 1994 (yes, yes, THAT long ago, when we were all wearing T-shirts under dresses and listening to Love Is All Around by Wet Wet Wet and dancing to Whigfield’s Saturday Night), lasted for 10 series over 10 fantastically hilarious years.

Ross (David Schwimmer), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Monica (Courteney Cox), Joey (Matt LeBlanc) and Chandler (Matthew Perry) bought us 236 episodes containing 445 gallons of coffee, one iconic 90s hairdo and a countless number of love affairs.

Feeling nostalgic? Us too. Here’s a rundown of our top 10 Friends quotes. You.are.welcome.

Something is wrong with the left phalange’.

Oh Pheebs. The dappy lady was desperately trying to convince Rachel to GET OFF THE PLANE’ in the final ever episode. What’s a phalange? Meh, who cares? It totally made it into our top 10 most-random-words-used list.

Joey doesn’t share food!’

Food-lover Joey Tribbiani made his feelings totally clear whilst on a date with Sarah in Series 10. We hear ya Joe – we’d be pretty unimpressed as well if someone tried to nab our grub.

Fine! Judge all you want but married a lesbian, left a man at the alter, fell in love with a gay ice dancer, threw a girl’s wooden leg in a fire, LIVE IN A BOX!’

The Gellar girl totally summed up her five friends’ top life mistakes after receiving countless digs about her relationship with moustache-man, Richard, in series four.

It’s thanks to geeky paleontologist Ross Gellar, that whenever we attempt to manoeuvre anything, the word pivot’ just, kinda, slips out.

You know, if it’s not a head-board, it’s just not worth it’.

Saucy! Rachel Green, the cooler, more fashionable member of the group, uttered these wise words to best friend Monica after they accidentally bashed baby Ben’s head on the ceiling.

Alright, I took the quiz and it turns out, I do put career before men’.

We weren’t so ashamed of our reading-on-the-loo habit after Chandler Bing strolled out of the toilet clutching a copy of a famous US ladies magazine. It didn’t help the Chan’s not so macho reputation though. D’oh.

Hi, I’m Chandler. Could I BE wearing any more clothes’.

In the 1996 episode, The One Where No-one’s Ready‘, Joey squeezes himself into every item of clothing owned by flat-mate Chandler and lunges his way into Monica’s apartment. The word be’ became our most overstressed word, ever. Could we BE any cooler?

Series six – what.a.hoot. Ross takes up a martial arts class called unagi’ in a mission to prove to Rachel and Phoebe that the self-defence course they’ve been taking is totally useless. He might be one hell of a nerd but we definitely harboured a secret crush for museum-lovin’ Ross. Fit geeks got cool.

They don’t know that we know that they know.’

Sorry what? In The One Where Everybody Finds Out, Miss Buffay had us racking our brains trying to work that one out.

Man, this is bad! And I’ve had my share of bad reviews. I still remember my first good one, though. Everything else in this production of Our Town was simply terrible. Joey Tribbiani was abysmal’.’

Ahh Joe. Not the brightest button in the box, the aspiring actor reacts to Monica’s shocking restaurant review in The One With The Cooking Class. Bless.

Yeah, we reckon that dusty box-set will be making an appearance this weekend after THAT blast from the past. Do not disturb!
