Eight years on, Jade’s mum Jackiey remembers her daughter…

Jade Goody was cruelly taken eight years ago after she lost her battle with cervical cancer but mum Jackiey Budden has ways of keeping her memory alive.

She shot to fame in 2002 on the third series of Big Brother, but Jade’s life was far from average even before becoming a star.

Speaking to Now magazine, Jackiey says: ‘When I’m on my own I watch the videos from our trips all over the world.’

When Jade was five, Jackiey and her brother Martin – who Jade called Uncle Budgie – were involved in a motorbike accident. Sadly Martin passed away and Jackiey used the compensation money to take her daughter around the globe.

‘I took her to so many countries,’ Jackiey recalls. ‘We lived in Egypt for seven months, Nigeria for a year an a half – she even went to school there for a while.

‘Jade learned their languages and she done so well. Those are really good memories, I love watching those videos.’

Jackiey also revealed how cruel people on the street attack her if they see her smiling, assuming she is no longer mourning her daughter, but she refuses to let them get to her.

She says: ‘Jade would never want me to mope around. People expect me to relapse and go back to drugs and stop looking after myself.

‘For example, Jade knows how much I used to hate washing my hair but if she looked down and saw me not taking care of myself she would hate me for it. I’m not going to disappoint her like that.’
