Jamelia is incredibly brave to be so honest on national TV

Loose Women supported Mental Health Awareness Week with Jamelia sharing her heartbreaking experience with depression, that saw the singer get teary-eyed.

Speaking to the panel, she admitted to refusing medication and instead using therapy to identify what triggers her bouts of depression.

‘I was so consumed with sadness. Every day tasks like making breakfast for my kids – particularly as a single mother – became really tough,’ she said on Thursday’s show.

The star then apologised to the audience as she began to cry.

‘I’m sorry… In the end, I went to see my doctor who offered me antidepressants – and for me that was a huge turning point. No offence to anyone who does take them, but I didn’t want to be medicated. I had therapy instead.
