Jamelia told the Strictly Come Dancing team 'I think I'm going to be alright!' after they asked whether she'd like a fake tan
Strictly Come Dancing wouldn’t be the show we know and love without a generous helping of sequins, plenty of figure-hugging spandex and a radioactive fake tan or two.
But we reckon the show’s hair and make-up department were having a bit of a brain-fart when they asked celebrity contestant Jamelia whether she’d like a spray tan.
Jamelia – who has a Jamaican mother and Zimbabwean father – revealed the bizarre offer during today’s instalment of Loose Women, telling her fellow panelists: ‘Would you believe, you know on Strictly everyone’s getting a tan? I was offered one.’
Clearly tickled by the offer, Jamelia added: ‘I was literally like, ‘I think I’m going to be alright! Hilarious.”
Outspoken Janet Street Porter then wondered: ‘Maybe you’ve got a white bit we don’t know about. Have you got a secret little white bit?’
Jamelia – who made it safely through week three of the BBC dance show at the weekend after performing a salsa – giggled as she exclaimed: ‘Where!? No, let’s move on.’
The conversation came about as the panel – also featuring Coleen Nolan and Andrea McLean – were discussing whether it was OK for men to get fake tans after footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted looking particularly tanned at an event this week.
Janet cuttingly said: ‘He’s decided his football career is coming to an end so he might as well turn into a human leather handbag.’
She also added: ‘The only way to know if it’s fake or not is to look at his white bits. In fact I wonder what he looks like with his kit off, and if there are any white bits!’
After comparing and contrasting the skin colours of celebrities including Robert Pattinson, Joey Essex, Rylan Clark and David Dickinson, the panel decided that a ‘man tan’ was a ‘bit weird’.
