The chef loved Hunger Games novel
Jamie Oliver has admitted that he only recently read a book for the first time.
The chef says he was hooked by Catching Fire, the second novel in popular sci-fi trilogy The Hunger Games.
I’m dyslexic and until recently I’d never got through a book,’ says Jamie, 38.
But I read Catching Fire. I loved disappearing into a story.’
And even though he’s only just started reading Jamie admits his most treasured possession is a very special book.
I’ve got a handwritten cookbook from the 17th century,’ the dad-of-four tells Event Magazine.
It was written by a cook who was working for a family in Norfolk. It’s a collection of his own recipes, along with those of the ladies in the neighbourhood.
In those days the pharmacy and the kitchen were the same thing, so the book goes from a cure for the clap to a recipe for a Scotch broth. Covers all the bases.’
