Former cricket star Imran Khan held in politically unstable Pakistan

Jemima Khan’s ex-husband Imran Khan has been arrested in Pakistan.

The former cricket star, 54, was reportedly forced into a van by hardline students while attending a rally and charged under the politically unstable country’s Anti-Terrorism Act.

Imran is a fierce critic of the emergency rule declared by President Pervez Musharraf.

If convicted, he could be given the death sentence or face life imprisonment.

‘It is the worst possible news – the scale of the charges is a real shock,’ Jemima, 33, tells the Daily Mirror.

‘It is another sign that President Musharraf has become one of the most brutal and oppressive dictators that Pakistan has ever seen.’

Jemima and Imran have 2 sons: Sulaimar Isa, 11, and Kasim, 8. The boys are obviously also very concerned about their dad’s well being.

Meanwhile, Jemima’s current on-off fella Hugh Grant made over £8m from selling an Andy Warhol picture.

The iconic print of Liz Taylor – which he bought for just £1.75m in 2001 – was sold for £10.1m at auction house Christie’s in New York.
