JHud takes on the mighty American coaches following her UK win
As if we weren’t excited enough when Jennifer Hudson took Paloma Faith’s revolving red chair as a coach on The Voice UK, we now hear that she’s also going to be joining Season 13 of The Voice in AMERICA!!!!
The singer, 35, will replace Alicia Keys this season, who is on a hiatus from the show to concentrate on her latest album.
Jen, who rose to fame on American Idol back in 2004 (which ironically has also announced it’s on its way back this year) is beyond excited, taking to social media saying ‘In tears thinking of what this means and represents to me and knowing and walking the journey! Wow, who would of thought after being a contestant, that one day, I would be sitting in one of those chairs from the U.K. To the U.S! Only God!!!! Oh but I made it!’
Joining JHud on the remaining three red chairs will be singer Blake Shelton, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and the one and only Miley Cyrus who returns for her second season on the singing contest keeping Gwen Stefani’s seat warm!
On joining the UK show the star revealed Jennifer said: “It’s just such a great thing to be a coach. And I’m all about the voice. So if I’m going to have a chance to find The Voice then I’m going to be here. I love discovering talent.”
And discover she did, because the Grammy-winning singer and Oscar-winning actress took two of her acts through to the final of the UK version in April this year and finally won with 21-year-old Mo Adeniran.
She also makes the ideal coach as she has been through a similar process on American Idol. “‘It feels very familiar to me – it’s been about 15 years now but every time I see them on stage being eliminated I know exactly what they’re going through, so I try to do my best to help them through it.
You can catch Jennifer in the US version this Autumn, which leads us to ask if she’ll be coming back for the UK version? Don’t leave us Jen!
