Little Mix's BRITs euphoria led to a pretty hilarious moment

If there’s one thing that’s certain by now, it’s that the members of Little Mix have their backs no matter what.

Through heartbreak, controversy and trolling, the nation’s favourite ladies of pop can be counted on to step in for one another when the going gets tough – and Jesy Nelson proved it once again by giving a thinly veiled namecheck to Zayn Malik, the ex-fianceé of Perrie Edwards, who infamously broke up with her via text message…

Little Mix scooped up their first BRIT Award on Wednesday evening (22nd February) when Shout Out to My Ex won the prize of British Single. On stage, Jade Thirlwall gave a literal shout out to their former partners who inspired the anthem – and the girls continued in this cheeky vein during their backstage interview.

After Leigh-Anne Pinnock joked that they wanted to thank their exes, The Sun reports that Jesy, excited at the moment, then decided to go a step further by adding:

‘Shout out to ZM!’

ZM, huh? Doesn’t take much wondering to figure out whose initials correspond with that!

However, Perrie didn’t take it quite as light-heartedly, and tried to shut down any connection with her ex.

‘Shut up! Stop! I’m going to kill you!’ she shushed her friend in jest.

Yikes! Perrie, who’s now in a relationship with footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, has kept pretty quiet about her fallout with Zayn in 2015 – so it’s understandable that she probably didn’t want to think about her ex on such a monumental night.

In fact, the big night was a major reason for Jesy’s *merriness* as she then went on to lick their award – but explained her antics later as being down to enjoying the evening:

‘I’m so sorry, I’ve had a few bevvies but I don’t care because I’m having the best night of my life.’

We don’t blame her!
