The pair initially raised eyebrows over their 22-year age gap
Johnny Depp and wife Amber Heard have split after 15 months together.
Amber filed for divorce on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences, and as the pair didn’t sign a prenup, the actress is asking for spousal support.
According to the divorce documents, the couple split two days after the death of Johnny’s mother Betty Sue Palmer, on 22nd May.
However, it looks like 42-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor is set to protect his $400 million assets by hiring top divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser, who filed a legal response on Wednesday, according to TMZ.
It’s believed that the pair got engaged at Christmas 2013 before marrying in an intimate civil service ceremony at their Los Angeles home in February 2015. They eventually threw a larger celebration on Johnny’s Island in the Bahamas.
It was reported that the marriage in LA took place so Johnny Depp’s sick mother could attend.
This comes weeks after the pair had to record an apology video after Amber was accused of illegally smuggling the couple’s two dogs, Pistol and Boo, into Australia.
Johnny was previously in a 14-year relationship with French actress Vanessa Paradis, and they share two children together: Lily Rose, 16, and Jack, 14. However, it ended in 2012.
