The Loose Women panellist responds to criticism over her decision to get Bunny’s ears pierced
Katie Price has hit back at her critics after causing controversy by getting baby Bunny’s ears pierced.
The 37-year-old star defended her decision during an appearance on the Loose Women panel today and angrily refused to apologise for putting studs in her 17-month-old daughter’s ears.
‘I’ve only had Bunny’s done,’ Katie said.
‘I do not have to justify myself. It looks really cute.’
Despite some people criticising her for making the choice on behalf of Bunny, Katie stressed that she thought this is the case for many decisions parents make for their kids.
The former glamour model likened it to boys getting circumcised and said that getting Bunny’s ears pierced was a choice based on tradition due to husband Kieran Hayler’s Spanish heritage.
When questioned by Ruth Langsford about the idea that it’s causing unnecessary pain to a child, Katie stressed that her little girl didn’t suffer and she only cried ‘a little bit’.
‘She cried more with her injections,’ the mum-of-five explained.
‘I think she looks beautiful.’
Even though Katie isn’t ashamed of what she’s done, her 8-year-old daughter Princess is yet to get her ears pierced as dad Peter Andre isn’t keen on the idea.
‘Princess wants her ears pierced,’ she said. ‘We asked Pete and I only want to do it if he agrees.’
And as for her other children – Harvey, 13, Junior, 10, and Jett, 2 – Katie doesn’t plan to let them get studs in their ears.
She rather controversially told her fellow panellists: ’They’re boys. On a girl it’s different.’
After lots of discussion about the topic it’s clear that Katie is ready to move on to talking about something else.
‘It’s only ear piercing, let’s get over it!’ she said.
The next controversy in Katie’s always-eventful life could be coming soon too. She joked on Loose Women that she’d be getting highlights put in Junior’s hair next!
We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled to Pricey’s Instagram for when that happens…
