Worried Kieran Hayler by Katie Price's side after gruelling op
As Katie Price announces the happy news that she welcomed her new daughter last week, Now can reveal the drama that was really going on behind the scenes.
The star had been battling illness for a week before the baby was delivered six weeks prematurely.
It was Katie’s worst nightmare and a scenario she’d hoped to avoid following the difficult birth of Jett almost exactly a year ago, which left both mother and baby in hospital on the French Riviera for weeks.
Now, tired and exhausted after what must have been the most stressful 18 months of her life, following two difficult births and revelations that her husband Kieran Hayler, 27, had cheated on her with two of her friends, Katie, 36, is trying to get some rest and recover while getting to know her brand new baby daughter.
As Katie revealed in her column last issue, she’d been feeling ill the week before her baby girl arrived and had even pulled out of her weekly FUBAR Radio show on Tuesday 29 July. At the time, she told Now she’d been lying in bed resting and watching loads of television.
But as she started to feel even more unwell and following a hospital visit that weekend, it was decided she should have the baby earlier than planned – at 34 weeks.
Katie had been due to have a pre-booked Caesarean on 15 August but her condition meant she would’ve been rushed in for an earlier delivery. As Now went to press, both Katie and her baby girl were still in hospital.
Baby bonding fears
A friend told Now: ‘Because her baby was born prematurely, she wasn’t able to give her a proper cuddle after the birth, despite the fact she was able to hold her later on.’
