A week after his collapse, Lamar Odom’s ex-wife Khloe Kardashian speaks out for the first time
The 31-year-old star admits that it’s been an extremely tough time for her but that she’s thankful for the care Lamar has received since he was found unconscious at a brothel in Las Vegas one week ago.
‘The past week has been incredibly difficult,’ Khloé writes in a post on her website.
‘I am so thankful to family, friends and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar.
‘I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work.’
Khloé also suggests that the outlook for Lamar, 35, looks hopeful as he’s made steps forward in his recovery and she’s very grateful to hospital staff for their help.
‘Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made,’ she explains.
Khloe Kardashian was quick to get to Lamar’s side when he was first taken ill and has been joined by family members including sister Kim and mum Kris Jenner, something that has helped her to cope with the upsetting experience.
‘You can never be prepared for an experienced like this,’ says Khloé.
‘But without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure.
‘Thank you for your continued support! God is great!!!’
Khloé’s statement comes amid reports that Lamar has flown back to Los Angeles with Khloé by his side to continue his treatment at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre.
It’s thought that Lamar came out of a coma on Friday and is ‘making fast progress’, according to E! News, but still has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
Khloé and Lamar’s divorce was finalised this summer following their split in 2013. The couple wed following a whirlwind romance in 2009.
Former basketball star Lamar is clearly still doted on by his ex-wife though and Khloé reportedly rarely leaves his side.
‘She goes everywhere with him. If Lamar leaves the room for testing, she follows,’ a source says.
We hope Lamar continues to recover quickly.
