The way Bruce Jenner's loved ones reacted to his confession is very moving

As Bruce Jenner confirmed that he identifies as a woman in his moving ABC interview on Friday night, all eyes were on social media for his famous family’s reaction.

Bruce – who has six children from his three marriages as well as being stepfather to the Kardashian siblings – admitted that the first one to know about his gender issues was Kim, who once caught the former Olympian wearing a dress.

‘It was like this big secret in the family and we never talked about it again,’ Bruce, 65, told Diane Sawyer in the revealing two-hour show.

At a later date his youngest kids Kendall and Kylie saw their dad in his female clothes.

The reality star finally got all of the children together a few months ago to tell them that he wanted to transition into a woman and confessed to Diane that: ‘They all cried, mainly because they don’t want anybody to hurt dad. They’re very protective of me.’

It’s clear from the family’s reaction to Bruce‘s interview on social media that they’ll support him in whatever makes him happy. Kim, 34, posted two cute selfies with Bruce and Tweeted: ‘Love is the courage to live the truest, best version of yourself. Bruce is love. I love you Bruce. #ProudDaughter

‘Your honesty has opened the doors for others to be courageous and live an authentic life! #respect #hero #family ‘

Bruce has not only been cheered on by his children but also his former partners. First wife Chrystie Scott – with whom the athlete had his eldest son and daughter, Burt and Casey – told ABC in a statement: ‘Someone who has lived 65 years of his life as the wrong gender has every right to live the last quarter of his life as his authentic self. I support him and so hope the world can too.’

Meanwhile second wife Linda Thompson, mother of his sons Brandon and Brody, added: ‘My hope is that his transition will inspire others who struggle with their identities, and my prayer is that humanity has evolved and been educated enough to exercise kindness toward those we may perceive as "different".’

Here’s what Bruce’s family had to say on Twitter about his interview:

Khloé Kardashian: ‘Just finished watching the #BruceJennerInterview with the family. Bruzer, I’m soooo proud of you! Dads really are heros ❤️’

Kourtney Kardashian: ‘Couldn’t be a more proud daughter. With courage and bravery, let’s change the world. I am honored to stand by Bruce’s side and support him.’

Kylie Jenner: ‘Understandingly, this has been very hard for me. You will hear what I have to say when I’m ready to but… ..this isn’t about me. I’m so proud of you, Dad. You are so brave. My beautiful Hero.’

Kendall Jenner: ‘so very proud of you, my hero.’

Rob Kardashian: ‘You have always been a role model to me and now more than ever, I look up to you. LOVE YOU‼️‼️👐👐’

Kris Jenner: ‘Not only was I able to call him my husband for 25 years and father of my children, I am now able to call him my hero.’

Unfortunately not everybody was nice though. Kim‘s second husband Kris Humphries – whose marriage to Kim lasted just 72 days – seemed to make a dig at Bruce‘s revelation when he Tweeted: ‘Man, I’m glad I got out when I did. #Gottadoyou’

Bruce always has his family behind him though. He told Diane during the moving interview: ‘I’ll be okay. I’ve got my health. I’ve got my children. I got family. I got seven grandkids now. I’m actually really excited about the future, about what I could do… I feel like i’m going to be okay.
