Star reveals reason for turning down lead role in American Beauty
Kirsten Dunst turned down a role in American Beauty because she didn’t want to smooch with Kevin Spacey.
The Marie Antoinette actress was originally tipped to play the teenager lusted after by Spacey’s middle-aged character, but couldn’t bear the idea of a steamy scene with him.
Dunst, 24, told BBC Five Live: ‘I was only 15 then and I didn’t want to kiss Kevin Spacey or be seen lying naked in those rose petals.’
Mena Suvari landed the role of young temptress Angela Hayes in the 1999 film which won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Kevin as Lester Burnham.
