After Ben was spotted leaving Kirstina Rihanoff's flat last week, the dancer is adamant she is not a 'home-wrecker'
Ever since they sashayed their way around the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor, rumours have been rife there is more going on between former rugby player Ben Cohen and dancer for the BBC show, Kristina Rihanoff.
Last Monday rumours of Ben and Kristina’s secret romance became the talk of the town once again when Ben was seen leaving Kristina’s flat after supposedly staying the night.
Now, while the duo are yet to confirm the claims, Kristina has opened up about how she doesn’t know what may happen between them in the future.
The 37-year-old told the Mail on Sunday of the recent photos with Ben: ‘We are both single people. We enjoy each other’s company. We work together.
‘Who knows what the future will hold. I do not owe it to the whole country to speak about my private life because it’s just that, private’
In fact, Kristina is so upset about the rumours that she is some kind of ‘home-wrecker’ and ‘man eater’, that she has been driven to tears.
During the interview with the paper they describe how ‘she hunches the shoulders of her 5ft 2in frame to stifle a loud sob and suddenly[…] seems frail and sad and really rather vulnerable.’
The star has had a past relationship with fellow dancer Vincent Simone, and a four-year relationship with boxing champ Joe Calzaghe, but went on to admit she’s made “mistakes”.
She admits: ‘I am a normal human being, maybe I have not always done the right thing. I make mistakes but I do not have to be crucified for them. My past should be allowed to be my past.
‘People say I don’t care about criticism but I do, I do care, it makes me cry for days, for weeks. Those who know me closely tease me and say I should trademark the Siberian Siren tag and create a perfume or a lingerie line but I don’t want to because it’s not me.’
She added: ‘It’s like I’ve been drawn as a man-eater and now I am not allowed to be anything other than that, the single girl who is to blame for other couples’ problems.
‘Why do people point the finger at the woman and never the man?’
Ben and Kristina were partnered together on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013 and were forced to hit out at rumours they had had an affair at the time.
The Siberian star later admitted how she was driven to the brink of suicide by claims she was the cause of Ben’s marriage breakdown from wife, Abigail – who he was married to for 11-years and has twin girls with.
Kristina goes on to say that she feels successful women are often stereotyped and she wishes that weren’t the case.
‘If you are a little bit successful, a little bit strong, then you are torn to shred,’ she says. ‘It is always the woman who gets the blame. There are double standards at work even now in 2015 when we should be beyond that.
‘A woman will be called all the names under the sun, a guy gets, “Oh … he’s just a man being a man.” It would be nice to be treated equally.’
We hear you, Kristina!
