Flamboyant singer is keen to ‘make a statement’
Mika has revealed that he wants to work on Amy Winehouse’s forthcoming album of Jewish songs.
Amy, 24, is reportedly planning to make a record of Hannukah tracks with producer pal Mark Ronson, 32, as they both have Jewish backgrounds.
The as-yet-untitled album will also include a score of Christmas covers.
And part-Lebanese Mika, 24, says he’s keen to show that music can cross boundaries, despite Lebanon having a history of conflict with Jewish Israel.
‘I heard Amy will be recording an album of Jewish music once she gets well and I’d like to make a contribution to it,’ he tells The Sun.
‘I really like her music. Think about this – me, a part-Lebanese artist working on a Jewish album. I think that’s a nice statement. I’d like to make a statement some day.’
