Pair lend vocals to reworking of 3 Lions

Russell Brand and pal Robbie Williams are supporting the England football team ahead of next month’s World Cup.

The comedian and ex-Take That star, 36, have teamed up for a reworking of Euro 1996 hit 3 Lions.

‘I was embarrassed by how emotional I felt singing this song. I nearly cried,’ says Russell, 34.

‘It’s the only good England song and I look forward to singing it as we crash out on penalties. Then I will be crying.’

The original song topped the singles chart when it was released by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds.

They have all returned for the reworking, which has been masterminded by producer Trevor Horne.

‘I’ve always been approached to write football songs but have declined as I thought 3 Lions could never be beaten,’ Robbie tells The Sun.

‘I am counting down the days until the start of the World Cup.’

The World Cup kicks off in South Africa on 11 June.
