Incredibly sad news from the Tomlinson family

Louis Tomlinson’s mum Johannah Deakin has tragically passed away at the age of 43, it’s been confirmed.

The One Direction star’s doting mother died on Wednesday following a battle with an ‘aggressive’ type of leukaemia, a statement from her husband Dan released on Friday has confirmed.

‘It is with immeasurable sadness that Johannah Deakin’s family said goodbye to Johannah in the early hours of Wednesday 7th December 2016,’ the heartbreaking statement reads.

‘Earlier this year Johannah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia that required immediate and continuous treatment.’

Johannah was a loving mum to Louis, 24, as well as his siblings Lottie, 18, Felicite, 16, twins Daisy and Phoebe, both 12, and 2-year-old twins Ernest and Doris. She was also a grandmother to Louis’ son Freddie.

She worked as a midwife and Dan has paid tribute to her selfless nature following the sad news of her passing.

‘Incredibly selfless, she would always look to put other people before herself,’ he says. ‘She desired nothing more than for everyone around her to be happy and loving.’

Louis had been due to perform solo on this weekend’s X Factor final and it’s thought that this will still go ahead as it was something she had wanted.

The singer had always been very close to his mum, who split from his father Troy Austin when he was just five years old.

Last month he shared a photo of him and Johannah taken in February, proudly writing: ‘My mother looking gorgeous before the Brits earlier this year . I love you and miss you so much !’

Johannah had been in a relationship with husband Dan for five years and they married in 2014 with Louis and his siblings proudly watching on.

‘I thoroughly loved walking through life with her, and though five years was far too short a time, during that time we had so many lifetimes worth of happiness, adventures, and memories,’ Dan says.

Here at Now we send our deepest condolences to Johannah’s loved ones at this difficult time.
