Love Island host Caroline Flack on the new singles, being happy with fiance Andrew Brady and why she's not against going under the knife...
Love Island is back and that means so is glamorous host Caroline Flack. But this year has seen the star couple up with former Big Brother contestant Andrew Brady, who she announced her engagement to in April. Now was lucky enough to travel to the LI villa to quiz the 38-year-old on the dating show’s sexy new singles, and it’s clear she’s on cloud nine right now. As we discuss all things Love Island, Caroline happily chats about her man, their plans for the future and her secret to looking great…
Hi, Caroline! You’re looking amazing right now – did you change your diet ahead of the new series?
I gave up dairy about two years ago, and it’s the only thing I’ve kept up from when I was on a health kick and stopped eating sugar. I always plan to work out more and then I get to the hotel and the gym doesn’t work… I’ve not had enough time, really.
How are you feeling now you’re engaged?
I’m very happy – it would be weird if I wasn’t! It was a weird moment, but it was good.
Do you feel like you can give better advice now you’ve settled down?
I still don’t think I’m the right person for that. I’m not going to be like, ‘Guys, listen to me, I’ve settled down…’ I’m there to look after them, but the only advice I give them is how to deal with fame.
What do you tell them?
Don’t read Twitter! And if you do, don’t take any of the comments to heart because they don’t mean anything.
How do negative comments online make you feel?
No matter what you have going on, they’ll always find something negative to say, so there’s no point in looking. If I see something bad about the contestants I do feel protective, though – it’s easier to stick up for someone else than it is for yourself.
Who’s your favourite of the new contestants so far?
I quite like Jack. He seems like a nice, normal lad.
Do you believe you can fall in love in eight weeks?
Oh, 100% yes. In most of my relationships, I’ve known instantly. It’s about a connection, and if it’s there you know. It’s such a simple thing but it’s also complicated, because that spark with someone is hard to describe.
What’s your fave part of the show?
The declarations near the end. I love them, and I get to watch them live – and I always cry!
Have you and Andrew set a wedding date?
No, we haven’t decided anything. I don’t even know how to organise a wedding! I was hoping I’d get engaged and someone would call me up and be like, ‘I hear you’re getting married, do you want me to plan it for you?’ But no-one has.
What about babies?
[Laughs] I’m not answering that! I’m not here to talk about babies.
Do you think it’s harder to have a relationship in the public eye?
It doesn’t matter if you’re famous, all relationships are the same. It’s hard when you make a mistake and everyone is like, ‘Oh my God!’ But I think, ‘I’m just normal!’ The only difference is I have everyone commenting on my relationship.
And finally, what are your thoughts on plastic surgery?
I don’t have any judgements. You get your hair cut or whiten your teeth, so what’s the problem if it makes you feel confident?
Love Island is on Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2
