Meghan Markle has been slammed for using Archie ‘as an excuse’ to leave a public engagement.
The Duchess of Sussex headed out on her first official engagement since giving birth last week to launch her fashion line in partnership with charity Smart Works.
However, at the end of the event, the mum-of-one was spotted saying ‘I’ve got to get back to the baby – it’s feeding time’ – and some critics weren’t impressed.
After royal expert Chris Ship posted a video on his Twitter feed of the duchess signing off the event, Twitter users expressed a stream of criticism towards the 38-year-old.
‘Not surprisingly really, on her first day back after maternity, that someone else needed Meghan’s attention when she was done at @SmartWorksHQ 👶’, the royal editor captioned his video.
However critics took to the comments section to reprehend the duchess for using Archie ‘as an excuse for her to leave’.
‘But Chris, he didn’t need her attention last weekend?’ wrote one critic, referring to Meghan’s trip over to New York to support best friend Serena Williams in the US Open.
‘Who has been feeding her “baby” while she was jetting across the Atlantic to watch a tennis match? Just wondering…,’ wrote one Twitter user, followed by another who echoed: ‘Oh Come off it. She went to New York for 3 days for a tennis match She doesn’t fool anyone’.
‘What?’ added another. ‘Wait she needs to feed Archie …she was gone an entire weekend. Just an excuse for her to leave..said it before A will be her excuse now for everything! Tour..limited engagements..wants to leave, late, no show..total BS MM not buying what your selling..’.
