Mark Wright's girl will leave Corrie next year

Michelle Keegan has announced that she’s quitting Coronation Street – but she doesn’t want to be killed off.

Michelle has played Tina McIntyre in the soap since 2008 and she’s decided that she’s ready to move on.

I have had the most amazing six years at Coronation Street and it was such a difficult decision to leave,’ Michelle, 25, said in a statement on ITV’s website.

But I felt it was the right time for me to make the next step in my career. I am very excited about what the coming months hold for Tina and what the future has in store for me.’

But friends say that Michelle, who is dating former TOWIE star Mark Wright, wouldn’t rule out a return to the soap.

I’d love them to leave the role open for me,’ a pal tells the Sunday Mirror Michelle has said.

It’s time to move on but I love the character and definitely won’t rule out coming back.’

Tina’s been involved in some dramatic storylines over the years and is currently at the centre of an exciting surrogacy plotline.

Fans can expect a dramatic exit for her when Michelle bows out of Corrie in May 2014.
