Dad Mitch pays emotional tribute to Amy at her funeral
Mitch Winehouse told mourners at daughter Amy Winehouse‘s funeral yesterday that she had beaten her drug addiction and was blissfully happy.
The cab driver and part-time singer admitted Amy, 27, still struggled with her dependence on alcohol but had given up drugs 3 years ago.
‘The doctors said it was impossible but she really did it,’ said Mitch, 60.
‘She was trying hard to deal with her drinking and had just completed 3 weeks of abstinence.
‘She said: “Dad, I’ve had enough of drinking, I can’t stand the look on your and the family’s faces anymore”.’
Mitch also told how he wanted to set up a foundation in Amy‘s name and praised her film director boyfriend Reg Traviss, 35, who she’d been dating for 2 years.
‘He helped her with her problems and she was looking forward to their future together,’ he told the hundreds of mourners at Edgwarebury Cemetery in Edgware, North London.
‘She was the happiest she had been for years.’
