Actress is glad to have had the opportunity to play the role
Hayden Panettiere has revealed that she doesn’t regret portraying Amanda Knox in a controversial TV movie.
Amanda Knox was sentenced to 26 years in jail for her part in the murder of British student Meredith Kercher, who was found dead at the home the girls shared in Perugia, Italy in 2007.
The American’s conviction was then overturned in 2011 and she returned to the US, though a retrial has recently been ordered.
And despite the Kercher family voicing their hurt over a movie being made about the case, Hayden has no regrets.
‘Yes, I would [still take the role],’ says Hayden, 23.
‘But I can completely understand the feelings of the Kercher family… I apologise deeply for any pain that was inflicted. But I didn’t do anything out of disrespect.’
