Actually it’s probably more of a man-band

Fans were left devastated when One Direction announced their hiatus – but it seems Niall Horan has already grown tired of his new freedom, as he’s joined another band.

Sort of.

The One Direction star has come up with an unusual replacement for his former bandmates, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Harry Styles.

Meet One Lad and 2 Dads – his new ‘project’ with comedian John Bishop and TV presenter Paddy McGuinness.

Sharing their good news, and first official group picture on Twitter, John wrote: ‘New boy band – me NiallOfficial and Paddy McGuinness – we are called One Lade and 2 Dads’.

Paddy appeared to be proud of their new gig as he happily re-tweeted the snap – Niall, however, appears to have missed the tweet.

The trio are all set to play in the weekend’s Soccer Aid tournament and it looks like they cooked up the genius idea as they prepared for the big game.

This year’s Soccer Aid will see a football team led by Niall go up against another captained by none other than Louis Tomlinson.

Perhaps Louis will become a fourth member?

The boybanders have been enjoying more free time lately after taking a break from One Direction six months ago.

‘It doesn’t feel like it [but] we’ve been off six months already. I was talking to Louis about it the other day, it feels like it was only yesterday that we were touring,’ Niall told Global Radio earlier this week.

‘I have to say it’s been really good, just being able to chill out, not really have a schedule, and just being able to do your own thing.’
