Actress taken ill whilst travelling to theatre

Former Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallett has been dramatically rushed to hospital with a severe kidney infection.

The actress started suffering from crippling pains as she travelled to Cambridge, where she is currently starring in a theatre production of The Rocky Horror Show.

‘She was on the way to the theatre,’ a source tells The Sun.

‘It’s a severe kidney infection. She’s very clean-living. She doesn’t drink or smoke and looks after herself, although she is a workaholic.’

Roxanne, who played Jo Sugden in Emmerdale for three years, is now having tests done at the Princess Royal Hospital in Bromley, Kent.

The petite star has previously admitted to eating more healthily in order to get in shape for her new theatre role, which requires her to be scantily clad for the majority of the show.

‘When you’re on television, or film, or on stage, you can’t hide – you have to be in the costume of that character and most of the time it’s sexy or revealing,’ Roxanne, 30, says.

‘You have to be confident. And I feel better… I’ve been saying to everybody it’s not how I look, it’s how I feel that makes a difference.’
