Actress says she had 'one too many' drinks
Reese Witherspoon has spoken out after an embarrassing video was released showing her being arrested for disorderly conduct.
The actress was charged two weeks ago after coming to the defence of husband Jim Toth when he was pulled over for driving under the influence.
The vid, filmed from the dashboard of the police car, shows Reese protesting that she’s an ‘American citizen’ and asking the officer: ‘Do you know my name sir?’
After replying that he doesn’t, the Legally Blonde star replies: ‘Oh really. Okay, you’re about to find out who I am.’
Reese, 37, has since gone on American television to apologise for her actions and has even confessed to telling extreme drunken lies to get out of trouble.
I have no idea what I was saying that night,’ the mum-of-three tells Good Morning America.
I saw him arresting my husband and I literally panicked. I said all kinds of crazy things. I told him I was pregnant. I’m not pregnant.
I said crazy things. You only hear me laughing because I had no idea what I was talking about and I am so sorry.
We went out to dinner in Atlanta, had one too many glasses of wine. We thought we were fine to drive and we absolutely were not. We are so sorry and embarrassed.’
