Fashion designer faced challenges with London 2012 Olympics outfit

Stella McCartney has caused a stir after referring to Tom Daley’s ‘little thing’ on TV.

The fashion designer, who created the Olympians’ outfits for the London 2012 games, was interviewed by Gary Lineker last night about the biggest challenge she faced in the design process.

Tom’s Daley’s little thing!’ Stella, 40, admitted.

There wasn’t a lot of space to work on, then to apply the print.’

Making a tiny piece of stretchy fabric retain 18-year-old Tom’s modesty was not the only problem for Stella.

It was just working on all those different bodies – and different shapes and sizes,’ Stella explained on BBC One’s Olympics programme.

Practicality comes first, you know. Secondly I wanted to obviously try and represent the nation and try and make it iconic.’

After losing out on a medal in the synchronised diving, Tom is getting ready for his individual performance on 10 August.
