The young Duchess shows off her acting skills

Kate Middleton clearly learned to speak like a royal at an early age.

A video has emerged showing the Duchess, 32, playing Eliza Doolittle – the flower girl who is rescued from the gutter and coached to become a lady – in a school production of My Fair Lady.

In the clip an 11-year-old Kate recites the famous line ‘the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain’ with a cockney accent before Professor Henry Higgins steps in to perfect her pronunciation.

Kate’s impressive acting skills even get a few laughs from the audience in another scene, where she shows off her newly refined speaking voice.

She also wears a smart coat uncannily similar to her modern-day wardrobe in the final bit of footage.

One of Kate’s co-stars in the play is actor Andrew Alexander, who recently starred as Sir John Bullock in Downton Abbey.
