Harry has mixed with royalty

Harry Styles says that his grandmother was overcome when he met the Queen. Totes adorbs.

One Direction might have achieved numerous accolades over the years but it was the moment that they were introduced to Her Majesty at the Royal Variety Performance in 2012 that most impressed Harry’s relative.

‘There’s loads of stuff my grandma doesn’t understand, like the VMAs,’ says Harry, 20.

‘But meeting the Queen? She freaked out about it!’

Family is clearly very important to Harry Styles. The singer shares a close bond with his mum Anne and sister Gemma and obviously loves to keep in touch when he’s away – he cites Wi-Fi as the thing he can’t live without on tour.

Harry’s relatives must be so proud of how far he has come with One Direction – we certainly are!

The group found fame on The X Factor in 2010 and went on to experience worldwide success after topping the charts with debut single What Makes You Beautiful in 2011.

Last year Harry revealed that he thinks 1D’s massive global fanbase is just as big as The Beatles’.

The lads are often compared to the iconic four-piece and Harry noticed the similarities between them after seeing footage of the 1960s band arriving in the US.

‘We all sat and watched the film of them arriving in America,’ explains Harry.

‘And to be honest, that really was like us. Stepping off the plane, the girls, the madness. It was exactly the same as when we got there – just 50 years earlier.’

But Harry Styles doesn’t think any of One Direction‘s music can match up to The Beatles’ legendary material.

‘None of us think we’re in the same league as them music-wise,’ the curly-haired heartthrob previously told Event Magazine.

‘We’d be total fools if we did. Fame-wise, it’s probably even bigger, but we don’t stand anywhere near them in terms of music.’
