Actress gets a Academy Award for The Blind Side

Sandra Bullock was the Best Actress winner at last night’s Oscar ceremony.

The 45-year-old was nominated for the first time for her role in The Blind Side, for which she has already won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award.

Jeff Bridges beat competition from George Clooney, Morgan Freeman, Colin Firth and Jeremy Renner to take the Best Actor Oscar for Crazy Heart.

The Hurt Locker was the big winner – scooping 6 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow.

Christoph Waltz and Mo’Nique received the Best Supporting Actor and Actress trophies for their roles in Inglourious Basterds and Precious respectively.

Despite being nominated for 9 Oscars, Avatar only went home with 3 technical gongs.

James Cameron looked pleased when ex-wife Kathryn beat him to be named Best Director.

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards took place at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
