Bookies also reckon Kate will be Wills' summer bride

Former royal butler Paul Burrell reckons Prince William will ask girlfriend Kate Middleton to marry him in the New Year and make her his bride in early summer 2011.

‘[The engagement] usually precurses the wedding by about four or five months,’ he explains.

‘They will probably announce the date on the same day as the engagement.’

Prince Charles become engaged to William’s mum – then Lady Diana Spencer – on 24 February 1981 and the couple married on 29 July.

Paul Burrell was a trusted employee of Princess Diana‘s and believes he understands the way Buckingham Palace works.

‘A huge shipment of Krug champagne has already been delivered,’ he claims.

Bookies are so sure he’s right that they’ve stopped taking bets on the couple announcing their engagement.

‘Almost every bet we have taken in the last six months suggests a 2011 wedding,’ a William Hill spokesman tells the Daily Express.

‘As a result we have decided that the market is no longer viable.’

Instead, those who like a wager can put their money on which month the young couple, both 28, will become husband and wife.

Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997, when William was 15.
