Junkie claims she’s cleaned up her act since Blake got banged up

Pete Doherty is Amy Winehouse’s new best friend.

The singer, 28, has been comforting the jazz diva over hubby Blake Fielder-Civil’s arrest.

‘I speak to Amy almost every day,’ he says. ‘She just wants her man back for Christmas. They are desperately in love.’

Pete claims the 24-year-old’s been off drugs since Blake was arrested for attempting to pervert the course of justice. He says they’ve both been trying to resist temptation together.

‘One good thing is that Blake has got clean since he has been in prison,’ he explains. ‘It’s been quite an awakening. Amy stopped doing everything since he went in.

‘She realises how much they have to lose. They are going to lose each other if it carries on. Love, music and melody is the way forward.’

Pete was at West London Magistrates Court yesterday for a review of his drug rehab following the revelation 3 weeks ago that he relapsed and took heroin.

‘It hasn’t been plain sailing,’ he tells The Sun. ‘I am sad to say I had a drugs relapse. I was clean for 11 weeks before that.’
