Singer charged with possession of heroin
Pete Doherty has been fined £750 for taking 13 wraps of heroin into court.
The Babyshambles frontman was arrested at Gloucester Crown Court last month when guards saw the drugs fall out of his coat pocket.
Moments earlier, Pete, 30, had been fined for a separate careless driving case.
He was charged with possession of heroin yesterday and ordered to pay £85 in costs.
‘Either this was sheer stupidity or a ploy to get more publicity,’ District Judge Joti Boparai said at Gloucester Magistrates Court.
The court was told the singer had forgotten the drugs were in one of his many coats.
He is paying for drug treatment privately, so he was not given a rehabilitation order.
