Strictly star Peter Andre speaks out following Jamelia's controversial comments about the dance-off
Peter Andre has been at the centre of Strictly Come Dancing gossip this week after controversially making it through the dance-off on the weekend, leading to Jamelia’s shock exit from the competition.
Jamelia performed an impressive Quickstep which scored higher than Pete’s Jive on Saturday night, yet the judges chose to save Pete when it came to crunch on Sunday’s results show.
Many fans were shocked by the decision and Jamelia has also hinted that there had been underhand tactics at play, having claimed that Pete’s standing ovation was re-recorded.
Now Pete, 42, has responded to the furore by speaking out by Jamelia on It Takes Two where he admitted that he felt bad for her.
‘I’m going to be honest, I deserved to be in that dance-off, I did – and I don’t think Jamelia should have been in that dance-off,’ he explained to host Zoë Ball.
‘I actually felt for her because she did her best dance – I did my worst. So I deserved to be in that dance-off.
‘I do feel bad for Jamelia, I don’t really think she should have been in that bottom two.’
Bless! Pete seemed very upbeat despite the fallout and there didn’t appear to be any bad blood with Jamelia, despite some of her comments on Monday night.
Whilst appearing on It Takes Two 34-year-old Jamelia had said: ‘I definitely thought there was hope [we’d get through]. I think we did a great last dance.
‘I think it was until they re-recorded Pete’s “standing ovation”, I’d say that that was the moment I realised we’re going home.’
She’s since clarified on Twitter that she doesn’t have any bad feelings towards Peter Andre but stands by her remarks.
Pete is now focused on this weekend’s show, where he’ll be performing an American Smooth with dance partner Janette Manrara, and seems to be having lots of fun in rehearsals.
The singer posted several snaps on Instagram, including one of Janette cheekily pretending to kick Pete’s bum! Behave, you two!
