Royal couple chatted with fans in Glasgow

Prince William and pregnant Kate Middleton have delighted fans in Scotland by visiting a sports venue in Glasgow.

The royal couple are set to tour the country over the next few days and they kicked off the trip by visiting the Emirates Arena, a future venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

There Kate and Wills watched cyclists take part in a practice session and met the Games‘ official mascot, a giant green thistle called Clyde

Fans waited to meet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge outside the venue and young wannabe princess Shona Ritchie, 4, was keen to get a kiss from the Prince.

She’s been dressed up like [a princess] since 6am today and we’ve been here waiting since nine,’ Shona’s mum Karen Ritchie, 34, told the Daily Mail.

‘But when she finally plucked up the courage to ask him, she got really shy and pulled away. As he leaned in to kiss her on the forehead she pulled away and got really shy.

‘This is the quietest she’s been all day.’

Wills, 30, and Kate, 31 – who kept her baby bump covered up in a tartan coat by British brand Moloh – will also visit a homeless shelter and chat to two Scottish people working for the charity in Holland via Skype.

Tomorrow they will be joined by Prince Charles as they open an outdoor education centre on the estate of Dumfries House in East Ayrshire.
