Kate Middleton and Prince William have welcomed their new baby - yay!

After months of anticipation, Kate Middleton has finally given birth to a baby girl!

The fourth in line to the throne arrived at 8.34am this morning.

Kensington Palace announced the news in a statement that read: ‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am.

‘The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

‘The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.

Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.’

The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William welcomed their second child at London’s St Mary’s Hospital. Kate, 33, delivered the girl at the hospital’s Lindo Wing, where the couple’s son Prince George was also born.

The new baby will be a sibling for George, who celebrates his 2nd birthday in July.

Kate and Wills‘ happy news comes after much speculation about when the baby would arrive. The Duchess‘s due date was rumoured to be 25 April, though there was much excitement over the possibility that the new addition could enter the world on 21 April, the Queen‘s birthday.

Parking restrictions outside the hospital came into force on 15 April, so royal watchers everywhere have been on tenterhooks awaiting news of Kate‘s labour.

Kate carried out her final public engagements on 27 March, just weeks before her due date, and it sounded like she and William were very excited about meeting their little one.

Wills, 32, reportedly told a member of the public during the London outing that having a second child would be a ‘game-changer’.

The pregnancy hasn’t always been easy for Kate though. When the couple announced their happy news in October they also revealed that the expectant mum was suffering from the extreme morning sickness condition hyperemesis gravidarum, which she had previously been afflicted with when carrying Prince George. Poor Kate!

Luckily she was soon back on her feet and wowed us with her chic style choices whilst pregnant.

Kate and Wills never revealed the sex of their baby and insisted that they hadn’t found out themselves. During a royal engagement in January Kate said that she didn’t know what she was having but that the unborn tot was moving around a lot!

Now the baby is finally here and there’ll undoubtedly be celebrations happening all over the country. Congrats, Kate and Wills!
