Tuesday 5th May:

2.54PM: William and Kate have formally registered the birth of Princess Charlotte. The Duke of Cambridge signed the birth register at Kensington Palace this afternoon witnessed by a Registrar from Westminster Register Office.

Monday 4th May:

3PM A Kensington Palace statement said: ‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their daughter Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. The baby will be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.’

Saturday 2nd May:

6.15PM Introducing our new Princess! Kate Middleton looks stunning in a floral Jenny Packham dress as she leaves the hospital with Prince Wills. For more – including what she’s likely to be named – click here

The Princess will be leaving the hospital ‘within the hour’. In the meantime, let’s remember those CHEEKS!

It’s been confirmed that Kate, Wills and the new Princess WILL be leaving the hospital tonight. Little George has gone home to bed.

Prince Wills just returned to the hospital with his little boy (wearing pulled up socks) – and our hearts just exploded.

3.54PM Prince William has left the hospital and said: ‘We’re very happy!’
We’ve been told he ‘won’t be long’. So it looks like he WILL be coming back with Prince George! We’re TOO EXCITED RIGHT NOW!

Aww! Throwback to when Prince William was born – and first appeared on the steps of the Lindo Wing with mum Princess Diana and dad Prince Charles in 1982.

Prince William is due to leave the hospital any minute now! Could he be going home to collect Prince George to bring him back to meet his new little sister?

Baby experts predict Kate and William will leave the hospital before 6pm today so that they can get home to introduce their new little girl to Prince George before his bedtime.

2.10PM Still no vistors to the Lindo Wing today as speculation mounts Kate, William and their daughter will leave the hospital this afternoon and introduce her to their families at home at Kensington Palace.

1.12PM Rumours are flying that Kate‘s personal hair stylist has been spotted entering the hospital – now speculation is rife that the royal couple will leave the Lindo Wing with their new baby daughter this afternoon and introduce her to the world. We’ll have to wait and see!

1pm Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: ‘Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby girl. I’m absolutely delighted for them.

12.58PM Royal Navy Sailors pay tribute to the royal baby girl by spelling out ‘Sister’ on the deck of a warship. Prince George is going to be such a great big brother!

12.55PM Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg tweeted: ‘Congratulations to the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their new baby. Miriam & I wish them all the best as their family grows.’

12.43PM Labour leader Ed Milliband has tweeted: ‘Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess on the birth of their daughter. Wishing them lots of joy and happiness – and hopefully some sleep!’

12.30PM OOOOOHHHH! A signed paper framed in a golden easel with the signartures of Kate’s medical team has been placed outside Buckingham Palace to confirm the baby’s birth.

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daugher at 8.34am.

The baby weighd 8lb 3oz.

The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.

Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.

11.10AM IT’S A GIRL!!!!!!! The princess was born at 8.34AM this morning weighing 8lb 3oz.

11.00AM: Police officer at Buckingham Palace confirms he’s not the father of the Royal baby, incase any one had any confusion.

10.57AM: Hilarious tourists at Kensington Palace talk all things Royal baby…

10.53AM So Kate and William managed to avoid being photographed entering the hospital by sneaking in through the Cambridge wing next door to the Lindo wing at St. Mary’s hospital. Police kept photographers away from the Cambridge entrance when they arrived at at 6am this morning. A silver Mercedes estate car pulled up at the tucked away side door at the hospital and dropped the couple off.

10.35AM We popped down to Kensington Palace earlier and had a chat with the security officers at apartment 1A where Kate, William and George live. They told us, ‘Wouldn’t like to say whether it’s a boy or a girl. It’s going to be one or the other isnt it?’ Very true officer, very true!

10.14AM The bookies are still open with great debate over the gender of the royal baby. While Alice is still the favourite name, there’s been a late rush on bets being place on it being a BOY. Could we see history repeat itself with a mini Prince William and Prince Harry duo?

09.31AM Wondering where soon-to-be big brother Prince George is? He’s hanging out at Kensington Palace with his grandparents Carole and Mike Middleton and his nanny. Watching Peppa Pig. Probably.

09.23AM Insiders says the maternity wards at the hospital is full of new mums and mums-to-be so there will be lots of babies born on the same day as the fourth in line to the throne. Nice claim to fame, eh?

09.15AM Bookies believe the royal baby is going to be a baby girl with Alice the clear favourite for a girls’ name and James for a boy. Pink or blue? We can’t wait to find out! 

09.11AM Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg tweeted earlier: ‘Best of luck to the Ducess of Cambridge today, as she gives birth to her second child. The thoughts of the whole country will be with her.’

08.42AM: The crowds are gathering outside the Lindo Wing. No-one wants to go and grab coffee in case they lose their spot!

‘s labour is ‘progressing as normal’. Royal commentators are hoping that Prince William will later bring Prince George to the hospital to meet his new sibling. How cute would that be?

07.05AM: BREAKING! Kate is now in labour and went into hospital in the early hours of the morning. We’ll be updating as and when more news comes in.

Friday 1st May:

17.15PM: The Metropolitan police have placed some new traffic cones outside the Lindo Wing, it’s got people very excited.

14:55PM: Prince William has signed a book in tribute to the victims of the Nepal earthquake

13.52PM: Another convoy led by six police motorbikes has been spotted driving in the direction of the Lindo Wing. We have a good feeling.

12.04PM: Police spotted doing their daily security search through the bins surrounding the hospital.

11.02AM: It’s not quite the Royal baby, but two giant two giant teddy bears have arrived at the Lindo Wing for now instead. It’s a start at least?

09.44AM: The Royal baby may share their birthday with Lady Chatto if born today, but there’s not much chatto going on outside the Lindo Wing this morning. Another very quiet start.

09.15AM: It’s May 1st! Which means if the baby is born today he/she will share their birthday with the Queen‘s niece Lady Sarah Chatto.

Thursday 30th April:

20.49PM: The official Kensington Palace Twitter account has started posting #ThrowbackThursday pictures from the day Prince George was first introduced to the world to keep us entertained.

17.44PM: Prince Charles has reportedly told a war veteran today he’s ‘hoping for a granddaughter.’ Sadly he didn’t also tell them when it’s expected.

09.49AM: We might be waiting anxiously for any slight update, but Prince Harry doesn’t seem too fussed at all the commotion. The 30-year-old spent the evening tucking into pork belly and mineral water at a low-key dinner in Australia. 

07.33AM: The Mirror claim traces of cocaine have been found in a toilet at St Mary’s hospital, just yards from the Lindo Wing where Kate is set to give birth.

Wednesday 29th April:

Reports suggest Kate is attempting to bring on labour naturally after being pictured arriving at Buckingham Palace again this evening for another alleged swim in the Queen’s pool.
