Rylan Clark tells Dan Wootton about his plans to take over TV

Rylan Clark, 24, won the Reality Star Of The Year gong in the Dan Wootton Awards 2012

Dan described him as ‘ropey looking’ during his time on Jordan’s model search show Signed By Katie Price.

But Rylan won Dan over on The X Factor with his outrageous routines, inspired comebacks to Gary Barlow and gracious exit when he was voted off.

How do you feel about winning this award?

I can’t believe it.

It’s on my wall and I kept showing it to Nicole Scherzinger.

Until now, I’d never won anything, apart from a Spice Girls Easter egg in a raffle when I was at primary school.

Does it make up for not winning The X Factor then?

Yes.

I have the award, so bollocks to everyone else!

It’s an honour and I’m overwhelmed.

What’s been your highlight of 2012?

The judges’ houses episode, when we found out who the final 12 were.

It makes me tingle just talking about it.

What’s been your favourite celebrity encounter?

I was backstage at The X Factor, about to go on, and I don’t know my own name at this point.

Then Jason Donovan walks in and I say to him: ‘Oh my God, it’s Darren Day!’

Two days later he was in the papers saying: ‘This thing came up to me and said I was love rat Darren Day.’

I felt terrible.

What have you learnt about yourself?

Under this spray tan, I’ve got a right tough skin.

What’s your plan for next year?

To grab every opportunity I can.

I want an ITV2 show: The Life Of Rylan.

And I want to be on Celebrity Juice, taking over from Fearne Cotton!
