The former Prime Minister passed away this morning
Margaret Thatcher has died at the age of 87.
The ex-Prime Minister suffered a stroke, according to her spokesman.
‘It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning,’ says Lord Bell.
‘A further statement will be made later.’
Margaret became the first female PM in 1979 and stayed in office until 1990.
She was advised by doctors to stop making public speeches after having a series of minor strokes in 2002.
Her daughter Carol, 59, has previously spoken of the Conservative politician’s struggle with dementia.
Margaret was married to Denis Thatcher until his death in 2003.
