Scott was afraid of Chris once, but not any more

Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, 38, admits it was ‘like a punch in the stomach’ when he was told Greg James was taking over his drivetime show after 8 years.

But Scott feels fine about Nick Grimshaw nabbing Chris Moyles’ seat on the breakfast show.

‘Out of all the new people on Radio 1, Nick’s my favourite,’ Scott, 38, tells Now’s Dan Wootton.

‘He really makes me laugh. I’ll continue to fill in for him when he starts.’

When Scott started at Radio 1, Chris Moyles mocked him on air, which was scary and overwhelming.

‘I dreaded hosting the show before or after him because of what he was going to say,’ recalls Scott.

‘So I went in one day and said to him: “What’s your problem?”

‘When I confronted him he was an absolute puppy dog. It’s all an act for on air.

‘He stopped after that.’

Scott’s autobiography Love You Bye: My Story is out now (£18.99, Little, Brown Book Group)
