Hollyoaks star makes Sound Of Music debut

Hollyoaks’ Summer Strallen received a standing ovation when she debuted as Maria von Trapp in The Sound Of Music at the London Palladium on Monday night.

The actress joined Channel 4’s teen soap for a 3-month stint last year and her character, Summer Shaw, was seen stalking Andrew Lloyd Webber until he gave her the part of Maria.

Summer, 23, was ‘planted’ in Hollyoaks by Lord Lloyd Webber, 59, in the hope of attracting a younger audience to the stage musical.

Her Hollyoaks cast mates, including Gerard McCarthy, Carley Stenson and Chris Fountain, were also in the West End theatre to cheer her on.
