Coronation St triumphs over EastEnders as Best Soap - see video

Coronation Street has won an impressive seven prizes at the British Soap Awards 2007 and EastEnders only one.

The glamorous event was held at BBC Television Centre in west London last night.

Dame Shirley Bassey presented the top award for Best Soap to the Corrie cast.

Todd Carty gave them Lifetime Achievement Award to his on-screen mum, former EastEnder Wendy Richard, who played Pauline Fowler and became ‘the heart and soul’ of the BBC soap.

Best On-Screen Partnership – Stirling Gallacher and Sean Gleeson (George and Ronnie Woodson)
Best Single Episode – Shreds And Aftermath.

The British Soap Awards will be screened on Wednesday 30 May on ITV1.
