Star Trek actor was never a big sci-fi fan
Benedict Cumberbatch might be starring in the new Star Trek film but he’s never been a sci-fi geek.
The actor stars as villain John Harrison in Star Trek Into Darkness but, whilst he’s a fan of the saga, he’s not that keen on the genre.
‘[There’s] not very much [sci-fi I like],’ says Benedict, 36.
‘I obviously have a latent fan fixation with Star Trek because of how thrilled I was when everyone got together in the first reboot.’
Benedict admits he preferred more lowbrow TV shows when he was growing up.
‘I never was obsessive about anything I watched when I was a kid, except maybe The A-Team and Airwolf,’ the Sherlock star tells SFX Magazine.
‘And I loved Knight Rider and then later Baywatch.’
