Benedict was a naughty boy and a bit of a tearaway
Benedict Cumberbatch admits that teachers encouraged him to take up acting as a way of calming his boisterous behaviour at school.
‘It was almost like a control thing, to repress the tearaway in me,’ he explains.
‘I was a hyperactive nightmare. I was pretty naughty, I got into fights.’
Benedict even pushed Mary off the stage during his first role as Joseph in a nativity play, much to the amusement of the audience.
‘I didn’t really understand it and I wasn’t intending to play to the house,’ Benedict, 36, tells the Daily Mirror.
‘I was just furious at how self-indulgent she was being.’
